About OANN

Oshwal Academy Nairobi -Nursery is located in Parklands, Nairobi, on Wambugu Road.
Established in 1950, the school has a diverse population incorporating many different cultures, religions and languages. The differences enrich the community and the learning that takes place here. The school provides a caring and structured environment where children’s enthusiasm is fostered. We recognize that children have individual needs and talents and that each child can achieve and should have the opportunity to celebrate his/her achievements.

CURRICULUM

We recognise that that the first six years of a child’s life is the optimal development phase of his health, personality, social behaviour and learning achievement. Here at OANN, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum incorporated with Jolly Phonics Program and the International Early Years Curriculum to enrich the teaching and learning process. This curriculum supports key areas of learning through holistic enquiry and play-based approaches encompassing all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development. Through this, children are supported to learn and develop at their own pace and a foundation of international mindedness is established in all learners. By the end of the Reception Class level, learners will have developed knowledge, increased understanding, and the skills of being able to demonstrate their learning in practical ways. 

OANN provides every child with the best learning and seamless transition into Primary school.

FACILITIES/ENABLING ENVIRONMENT

Our grounds, buildings and facilities are well maintained and include :  

  • The twenty-first century equipped Classrooms, with writable table and wall surfaces and projectors.  
  • School Halls. 2 multi-purpose halls used for drama, physical education, school assemblies etc.  
  • Adventure Playgrounds. There are three adventure playgrounds that are equipped with tricycles, a sand-pit and a lush grass field which are a fun and safe play environment for children of all ages and abilities.  
  • Library. Our library has a large range of engaging fiction, non-fiction, and picture storybooks. All classes have a timetabled weekly library lesson. A developmental program of library skills, literature appreciation and research skills are taught. Children are encouraged to borrow books weekly. 
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITES

Co-curriculum refers to the activities and learning experiences that take place in school alongside the academic curriculum. Academic attainment is complemented by a broad and enriching co-curriculum to provide a rounded education. The variety of provision within the co-curriculum at OANN ensures that music, sport, and drama all play an integral part in the children’s learning.  

Along with these activities, students get to go for educational trips and overnight trips. They are encouraged to participate in charitable activities and various Art and Writing competitions.  

EFFECTIVE PARENT TEACHER PARTNERSHIP

We believe that the active involvement of parents in their children’s education improves children’s development and academic success. We also believe that every child is unique and has the potential to succeed. Due to this uniqueness, we ensure that we have an excellent relationship with the parents and guardians of our beloved learners. We thrive in our open communication channels and frequent parent-teacher meetings, that have proved to be very beneficial to the overall performance of each student.
