The benefits of spelling bees extend beyond language: Since children are required to spell words while on stage, they develop self-confidence, communication and public speaking skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure.

“Spelling is crucial since it helps with reading. It contributes to the shared relationship between sounds and letters and the term refers to a gathering of people who come together for a common purpose, often helping one another to achieve a task”.

Oshwal Academy Nairobi Nursery Spelling Bee Competition and General Knowledge Quiz will take place on Wednesday, 24th May 2023, and will give students the opportunity to study spellings in a number of ways, extend their vocabulary, discover concepts, and enhance their English language and create awareness about the general knowledge. The school is also encouraging students from other schools in the neighbourhood to compete and learn and grow together.

This competition will spark the interest in language. The literacy, cognitive, and life skills that children learn through study and competition will benefit them well beyond their ability to spell, affecting every part of their lives and communication. It might be hard work to compete in a spelling bee. However, it will also be a lot of fun, with numerous unexpected benefits for all aspects of life.
