What are educational games?  

The educational game is an educational tool (medium) of learning where students explore and interrogate information in a fun and interactive way.  

What kinds of Educational Games are to be planned for kids at the Nursery level?  

  • Board games are used to answer questions from different topics, courses, and subjects. This type of game is used in education to elicit questions and answers.  
  • Crossword. 
  • A crossword is a word puzzle that has to be filled in by solving the clues that will be provided  
  • Jigsaw puzzle. 
  • A jigsaw puzzle is a puzzle made of numerous pieces that are cut into different shapes and can be fit together to shape a picture. Jigsaw puzzles are an ideal tool to teach students various skills while also teaching than the content  
  • Word Search. 
  • A word search is a word find or word seek puzzle which consists of words placed at random in a box.   
  • Brainteaser. 
  • Brainteaser is a type of puzzle that triggers the thinking process in students. It gives students the chance to use their brains in unconventional ways by giving riddles or clues, hence, brain teasers are quizzical in nature.   
  • Computer simulated games are games where students interact to apply previous knowledge and practical skills to real-world problems. These games are used for Learning science, Vocabulary and Numbers.

Why are educational games important for kids?  

Educational games make the children love to learn, they see it as fun and a journey of exploration and excitement. The children who participate in in-class games demonstrate greater knowledge of the subject matter than those who did not.   

What is the importance of games in child life?  

Games play a vital role in building students’ self-confidence. As educational tools, games are constructive as they liven up teaching methods that are normally considered dull and boring.   

The use of games in education aims to help students remember what they have learned as active participation is encouraged. Students can use games to remember the critical points which they can apply in real-world situations.   

Visual and computer literacy is vital in light of the fact that we live in a world that is ruled by innovation. By playing games, students gain visual and computer literacy skills which will prepare them for the world of work  

Educational games facilitate learning and help to recap the previous topics. It’s actually a source for revising the lesson made in class and review previous knowledge learned in class. By doing so, teachers are also able to identify learning gaps that exist and allow this to inform their next class or revision sessions  

As already noted, playing games has been shown to lighten the mood and facilitate greater creativity and boost student morale. The use of games encourages a hands-on approach.
