The Swahili term for “power” is “madraka,” and Madraka Day marks the occasion when Kenya achieved internal self-government. As a nation, we commemorate June 1st as Madaraka Day.
Even though it is a holiday, the younger generation needs to grasp the significance of the day and the battle our independence warriors had to win.
At Oshwal Academy Nairobi Nursery, we have organized a special assembly for all of our students to celebrate the day on Tuesday, 30th May 2023. The assembly will feature patriotic songs and skits to help the students develop a sense of patriotism. It enhances their sense of aesthetics, encourages creativity, and increases their passion for the country. It is one of the most treasured human experiences and makes a big contribution to a child’s education by giving them a chance to express themselves and continue to be grateful for the country.
May our children learn about the heroes of the past. May they be inspired; may they emulate and change the future. By Jomo Kenyatta
